Dr. Mota is a dedicated integrative medicine practitioner with over 20 years of experience specializing in women’s health, chronic illness, and microbiome medicine. She joined Lokahi to bring her unique approach to holistic care, seamlessly combining modern science with ancestral and Indigenous medicine to support her patients’ well-being.
Her expertise spans a wide range of areas, including fertility, postpartum care, chronic illness management, and optimizing gut health. Her trauma-informed approach prioritizes collaboration with her patients, empowering them to find resilience and sustainable health. She incorporates tools from acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, functional medicine, Ayurveda, and somatic therapy to create comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
She holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA, and a Master’s in Oriental Medicine from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, NM. She is a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine through the NCCAOM. Her early education in environmental policy and Agroecology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, further shaped her belief in the interdependence of inner and outer ecologies.
Before joining Lokahi, Dr. Mota served as an integrative health specialist at the Birth Center of Boulder, where she provided holistic reproductive health care. She is also the founder of Remedies for Resilience & Global Health Seekers, through which she develops educational courses and resources for practitioners. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to create the “Built to Last Mastermind,” a program designed for women entrepreneurs to align health with professional purpose, as well as Formulations, an herbal apothecary and treatment center.
Dr. Mota’s path has been deeply inspired by her experiences as a birth doula and by the wisdom of her teachers, mentors, patients, and family. A mother of two, she embraces community and connection both personally and professionally. Outside of her practice, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time in nature.
Through her compassionate care and integrative methodologies, Dr. Mota helps her patients embody health and balance in every stage of their healing journey.
