Supporting Modalities
Supporting modalities of acupuncture are additional techniques often used to enhance the effectiveness of treatment. Some common ones we use in our acupuncture clinic include:

Fire Cupping
The process involves briefly placing a flame inside a glass cup to remove oxygen, creating a vacuum. The cup is then quickly placed on the skin, where the suction pulls the skin and underlying tissue upward into the cup.
Benefits include: Improves blood circulation, relieves muscle tension, reduces inflammation, alleviates respiratory issues, aids detoxification and boosts immunity.

Moxibustion (Moxa)
Involves burning dried mugwort (a small, spongy herb) near or on specific acupuncture points on the body. The heat generated by the burning moxa is believed to stimulate these points, promoting healing and improving energy flow (Qi).
Benefits include: Improves circulation, relieves pain, supports digestive health, regulates menstrual issues, turns breech babies, and boosts immunity.

Gua Sha
Involves using a smooth-edged tool, like jade or metal, to scrape oiled skin in strokes along tension areas or meridian lines. It often causes temporary redness or “sha” as stagnant blood and toxins are released.
Benefits include: Relieves muscle tension, improves circulation, reduces inflammation, eases headaches and migraines, supports skin health, alleviates stress, and aides in detoxification.

Electroacupuncture
A modern variation of traditional acupuncture that involves applying a mild electrical current to acupuncture needles after they are inserted into specific points on the body. The electrical stimulation enhances the treatment’s effects by providing consistent and controlled stimulation to the targeted areas.
Benefits include: Enhanced pain relief, improved circulation, treatment of neurological conditions, reduction of muscle spasms, and speed of recovery.

Celluma LED Light Therapy
A non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light energy to boost cellular health by enhancing ATP production, promoting healing, and aiding cell repair and regeneration.
Benefits include: Promotes anti-aging, acne reduction, pain relief, hair restoration, and overall healing.
